Trump International Golf Links

In hiring the firm of Martin Hawtree, Donald Trump spawned a true Anglo-American partnership. Against all odds, the team was successful in creating what is surely one of the most discussed golf projects in the new millennium. Mainly routed in a north-south orientation, Trump International weaves its way through dunes along the North Sea. There can be few courses which match the majesty of this site and the design takes full advantage by offering several scenic views high among the dunes. As to be expected, there are several highlights:
The short 3rd is hard on the coast and thus exposed to the full force of nature yet the hole remains very playable and breathtakingly beautiful.
The shortest par 4 on the course, #7 is within reach of the tee for many, but an error in execution will result in disappointment. The plateau green is problematical even for the canny golfers who choose to lay-up.
The long 10th gradually snakes from the flat, marshy area high into the dunes. The green is very long with pronounced waves rolling to the front. The back section runs away to the rear. This is a very difficult green to get approaches or long putts close to the hole.
Probably more exceptional for the stunning backdrop, the very difficult 14th is a potential card wrecker due to the required carry from the tee and narrow fairway.
Probably the best hole on the course, the seventeenth sports an excellent green location on a ridge. Gaining the best angle to the right off the tee will make the approach a much easier prospect.
Cruden Bay GC: One of the true golfing jewels of Scotland.
Royal Aberdeen GC: A difficult, yet enjoyable championship links rolling through admirable dunes.
